› I did not know that! I am pretty sure my language setting is to google tts and not google search engine. I will take a look at that. Far as the mixing and switching settings, well they work in sygic, but only mixing works in igo primo. If I set it to switching mode, the voice disappears altogether. That is why I thought rerouting the stream might solve this problem.
However, what you are saying about the headunit handling tts has to be spot on because if I choose a regular non-tts voice, it works perfectly as it should. I really like the samantha tts, if I can get this to work half way, i will live with it. If I cannot, i will switch to a regular voice. It is too much like an internet browser, which I do not want for my gps.and I spent a half hour trying to find where to cancel a route. I also have the sygic CAR navigation version 13.1.0 I believe, and it was pretty good, but the maps are 2012 and I was told by sygic, they did not support that anymore and the newer maps will not work in that software.
Is this true? The app isn't bad, wayyy better than the newest regular gps navigation by sygic. I am uninstalling it today. ( 02:01 PM)immusicman Wrote: You are not allowed to view links.
Or to view.Bazzle, can you tell me what the VMCVR is for? I notice it is disabled in my sys.txt, but listed in igo9.ini file. Curious to know what it is controlling. I also cannot figure out how the TTS is working, there is nothing in my sys.txt or any other place (far as I can tell) in my igo folder. VMCVR has to do with Voice Recognition. Probably not for you so don't worry about it.
FYI, having a; in front of a sys.txt entry means that entry will be skipped. Like using the old REM in front. Try removing the.
ALWAYS back up your files/folders first before doing ANY editing Please make mirrors additional uploads to preserve links. Don't just download. Any way to change the size of the font? I will try and take a picture of my screen later today to show you guys what it looks like.
I am assuming the issue is because I had to resize or force the weird 960x536 resolution for my 1024x600 resolution screen. For whatever reason, trying to use 1024x600 failed with an error with primo saying no support for 1024x536 at boot, then shutting program down. Of course that is fixed, and once again I am assuming the 536 resolution is because of the status bar up top.
So, I have this issue now is the font appears too large for the buttons i.e., some of the words getting cut off or on the page showing history, the font is so large it is nearly overlapping. Is it because the resolution has changed, but font is still the same size? I believe if I could downsize font to match, it would be fixed. I am using the branding.zip bazzle posted up and I believe it is diMka 1.1.4 Any help is appreciated. I think I am going to give up on the stream of TTS for now.
I am convinced, though the TTS is handled by android, the stream must be set by Primo, because my Sygic app uses TTS and it using a stream that allows music to cut out when the voice speaks. My primo will not. Music will cut out when notification or alert, but not when the voice speaks.
There has to be a way for primo to tell android which stream to speak in. I believe it has something to do with the VR. I believe it was Chas posted the VR is voice recognition. But I don't believe it is voice recognition for and input like a microphone. I believe it is Primo recognizing the tts voice from android. Somewhere in the configuration where igo9.android.ini and igo9.ini lies the answer (I think).
I just don't know what to do with it. But there is text that says: vmcvr vmcvoice=100 vmcmedia=-1 vmcalarmeffect=100 vmceffect=0 According to this, shouldn't the voice directions be at 100% while reducing the media to 1%? This actually works for the regular voices, but not the TTS voice. I can change gps settings in my headunit from 'mixed' to 'switch' and it will force music to cut off during voice instruction ONLY for sygic. For Primo, it makes voice instructions disappear though alerts and notification chimes are still there.
So it is apparent the stream for TTS is being directed through a different channel stream for Primo, and I cannot figure out where to make the change. I thought I had in earlier post, and I was able to change the stream for the regular voices, but for TTS, it is handled somehow through the audio volume manager of android, but I still believe Primo has to be telling it what stream. So I guess I will give it a rest for now unless someone has any new ideas. I did find this in the info.ini file of the samantha voice. Apparently it is commanding the tts to be in 'mixed' mode but there is a '0' after it so I am not sure what this means.
' ttslangname='enGB' ttsmodemixed=0 ttsrate=100 ttssrate='22050' ttsvoicename='Samantha' ttsvoice=1 unitssupkmm=1 unitssupmlf=1 unitssupmly=1 voicemodel='dri40vssq5f22' voicekey='TTSnuaengusf1lua-dri40-vssq5f22'. Ok, FINALLY the tss problem is solved. Solved for real this time. I finally figured out how to handle the mapping properly for the TSS android engine in the chinese head unit. I cannot say how to do this in any other device, but this was actually pretty simple.
Just changing some settings really and not allowing IGO to manage the sound. I will post some pics of the settings changes here in a little while. I have to run an errand at the moment. I might also mention you can download any TTS engine and not have to use google TSS speech engine.
Google TSS will allow the use of the voices you have in your IGO folders. However, I downloaded IVONA and I can use any one of those voices in IGO and never have to go to the IGO voice menu to change them. You actually choose the IVONA TSS speech engine in the settings of the head unit, then choose the voice in the settings. I have Amy, and once this is done, the Amy voice will play instead of Samantha or any one else you might choose in the voice settings of IGO. My IGO voice menu shows Samantha as the voice, but AMY is speaking clearly and the volume can now be adjusted along with mixing or switching the settings of the head unit, but ONLY if the GPS application setting is set to IVON, NOT IGO. This fixed it and the only downside to this is the navigation hard button on the head unit will now open IVONA app instead of IGO. I don't care, I put IGO on my home screen so all is good!
Would still like some help with font issue. I will look into that. I am kind of unsure exactly whether it is font size or just not lining up with the fields properly (Street name sizes seem fine). Some buttons are fine, but for example, the screen where the house and office and 3rd favorites are also shows your past history of destinations you were guided to. On my screen, the address to each past history doesn't line up with the field. It is a little above the field, but I can live with it.
I just thought if I could fix it, I would. I may mess with the font and see what happens. This could fix it. I will just figure the percentage decrease from my resolution which on my screen is 1024x600 but because of status bar (I think), my resolution comes up as 960x536.
So that is about a 10% reduction in size. So I will try decreasing font by 10% in sys.txt.
Bazzle, I am laughing as I read your post because I got back in my car to do an errand and put in my destination address and suddenly a loud man's voice spoke directions. I go back into igo voice settings and there are no tts voices to choose.
So I go back out and switch back to google engine in android settings then reboot igo, and there is samantha again. I choose her, and make the change in gps applications to google speech tts instead of invona or igo, and open igo up and there is samantha working perfectly. So, Ivona will work and Amy will work.until you reboot.lol. So I can deduce in order to keep Amy's voice, I need to find Amy in a zip file for IGO so she will show up in voice settings. Because none of the orignial tts voices will show up in igo voice settings after a reboot, if you are using ivona as the android speech tts engine. I don't know if there is an Amy packaged out there for IGO, if there is, I wouldn't have to switch to IVONA at all, she would work with google tts setting. No, this is IVONA Amy and she is TTS voice for certain.
She worked great until I rebooted the head unit. The reason is because I don't have a zip file of her to put in the igo voice folder. But, when I switch from google to ivona speech tts engine, then boot igo, Amy is the tts voice working and any selected tts voice will still be amy, though it shows samantha or whatever you have. This works until power is turned off, then when I boot IGO primo again, I have no tts voices. I have to select google again as my tts engine, then reboot igo and I have samantha and another back. If someone knows how to make a zip file correctly with the right stuff in it for Ivona's Amy, I would be grateful.
I have no idea how to modify the files to go into IGO primo. The TTS IVONA Amy was downloaded from the play store as an app.
So I have an Icon for Amy, and I can use her for about any other system TTS function, but I need a zip file to add her as a selection in IGO, otherwise, for TTS I have to use Google engine for now. Back to the font issue. I don't know if this is really a font issue, or because I had to change the resolution to compensate for that big ugly status bar on top. Does anyone know how to make the status bar disappear while the gps screen is on?
Maybe like other gps programs and have it gone but be able to touch or gesture down to see the status bar for a few seconds? Then maybe I could set the resolution back to full 1024x600 and solve problem that way.
Here are some pics. I should have taken one of main screen as numbers on main screen for instance completely cover the words in the field. Like 'Distance' is mostly covered by the numbers in the field. Tell me what you guys think? Sorry for the huge pictures, I didn't do it on purpose. That is just what came out when I uploaded them Attached File(s) Image(s).
This has been covered many times before but I'll post it again. Using TTS in Primo under Android: Primo does not include inbuilt support for TTS under Andoid unlike most other Navigation Apps including TomTom, Metroview, Sygic etc. Which install their own dedicated TTS system and don't use the inbuilt Android System TTS at all. In my opinion this is wasteful of system resources and adds to system bloat but that's just how it is. Primo unlike those other Apps already mentioned relies on the inbuilt Android System TTS to provide the TTS output.
The System TTS voice is set under Settings/Language & input/Text-to-speech output. This can be any TTS system including the native Google, Ivona, Nuance, Vocalizer etc. Once your preferred TTS voice is selected and setup correctly here this will be the voice you hear in Primo regardless of the the TTS voice that is selected from within Primo. You must have a modified for Android TTS voice eg. VoiceTTS-nua-eng-au-f1-lua-dri40-vssq5f22.zip in iGO/content/voice. It does not matter if the TTS voice is male, female or othewise.
All this file does is feed the correct TTS data to the inbuild system TTS as noted above. If all the above is setup correctly it should just work. Cheers, Ian Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic!
Thanks Ian, it does work until reboot (when I have IVONA set as TTS engine). However, after reboot, the TTS selections in IGO are GONE. I have that very file you are speaking of, but the voice will not continue to work. I had to go back to google TTS and use the Samantha, which is in the folder with the name you just posted. If there is a way to make IVONA continue to work on reboot, i am all for it.
Ian, actually my tts folder is VoiceTTS-nua-eng-us-f1-lua-dri40-vssq5f22.zip but there is another voice file in the contents/voice folder with the name VoiceTTS-nua-eng-us-m1-lua-dri-vssq5f22.zip So do I only need one of these files to make the IVONA voice work? Like I said before. When Ivona set in android as tts engine, the Ivona voice will work until I shut the unit off. Then the next time I reboot, i have no tts at all and no tts options show up in voices selection.
If I go back out and set google tts as engine again, then I come back to Igo and the original voices are back again.
